## Frequently asked questions

### How does the pricing calculator work?

Each row is one product. You fill in the inputs and Notion calculates the outputs automatically, so you never do the math yourself.

### What do I need to enter?

Product name and type, estimated hours and hourly rate, tool, software and marketing costs, expected sales, transaction, platform and tax percentages, your target profit margin percentage, and a discount percentage.

### What does the calculator work out for me?

Total Creation Cost, Minimum Price, Recommended Price, Premium Price, Launch Price, Revenue After Fees, Profit Per Sale and Break-even Sales.

### How is the Recommended Price calculated?

It is the Minimum Price plus your Target Profit Margin. The Minimum Price spreads your total cost across your expected sales and is bumped up so fees do not push you into a loss, so treat it as a hard floor.

### What are the Premium and Launch prices?

Premium Price is the Recommended Price multiplied by 1.5, a value-based tier for bundles or premium editions. Launch Price is the Recommended Price with your Discount percentage applied, for a limited-time intro offer.

### Why do the calculated prices look low?

This is a cost-based calculator, so it shows your minimum safe price. Digital products are usually priced on value, which is higher. Use the Strategy Guide and the Premium Price as your upper anchor.

### What should I enter for Expected Sales?

A realistic estimate for your first few months, which spreads your build cost across copies. If you are not sure, start with 25-50 and adjust later.

### Do I enter taxes in the calculator?

If your platform adds tax at checkout and the buyer pays it, leave Taxes at 0. If you absorb the tax, enter the percentage.

### How do I change the currency?

Numbers are shown with a dollar format by default. Click a money column, choose Edit property, and pick your currency. The formulas keep working.

### Why do my prices show 0 or blank?

Make sure Estimated Hours, Hourly Rate and at least one cost are filled in. A blank input counts as 0.

### Why can't I type in a price column?

Those are formula columns, calculated for you. You only edit the input columns.

### What if Break-even Sales looks huge?

Your margin is very low or your cost is very high. Raise your Target Profit Margin or your price, or lower your costs.

### How should I enter fee and margin percentages?

As whole numbers, for example 10 for 10%, not 0.1.
