How to use the 2026 Goal Tracker in Notion

A Notion goal tracker for the year. Add goals with a category, quarter and target date, break each one into sub-items, and watch the progress bar fill as you check them off.

Quick start: set up the 2026 Goal Tracker

  1. Open the All Goals view and click + New to create a goal.
  2. Fill in the Goal title, Category, Quarter (Q1-Q4 2026) and Target Date.
  3. Open the goal and click + New in the Sub-item property. Add 3-7 manageable sub-items with target dates.
  4. Check the Completed box on each sub-item as you finish it. The Progress property updates on its own.

2026 Goal Tracker FAQ

Answers to the most common questions, taken from the template's own documentation.

How do I add a goal in the 2026 Goal Tracker?

Go to the All Goals view in the main database and click + New. Give the goal a clear, specific title, choose a Category and Quarter, and set a Target Date.

How is goal progress calculated?

Progress for a main goal is calculated from its completed sub-items. For example, 4 sub-items with 2 completed is 50%, and 5 sub-items with 5 completed is 100%. Check the Completed box on a sub-item and the parent goal updates automatically.

How many sub-items should each goal have?

Aim for 3-7 sub-items per main goal. Make each one specific and actionable, and small enough to finish within a few days or weeks.

What views are included in the goal tracker?

Goal Progress is a gallery of main goals with progress bars. All Goals is a table with every property. Quarterly Goals is a board grouped Q1 to Q4. Monthly Goals is a gallery grouped by target month.

What goal categories are available?

Career & Professional, Health & Fitness, Financial, Personal Growth, Relationships and Lifestyle.

How often should I review my goals?

A simple rhythm is a weekly review of 5-10 minutes in the Goal Progress view, a monthly planning session of 15-20 minutes in Monthly Goals, and a quarterly planning session of 30-45 minutes in Quarterly Goals.
