How to use the Technical SEO Audit Checklist in Notion
A Notion database where each row is one technical SEO check. Track priority, impact, the tool you used and the evidence for each, then turn the audit into an action plan.
Quick start: set up the Technical SEO Audit Checklist
- Duplicate the template and rename it for the site and audit date, for example "example.com - May 2026".
- Open the By section view and start with Quick triage.
- For each item, fill in Affected URL(s), Priority (P0/P1/P2), Impact (High/Medium/Low) and Status.
- Add the Tool you used (GSC, Screaming Frog, PageSpeed and so on) and paste an Evidence URL.
- After fixing something, re-validate with a re-crawl, re-test or GSC validation before setting Status to Done.
Technical SEO Audit Checklist FAQ
Answers to the most common questions, taken from the template's own documentation.
How do I start a technical SEO audit with this checklist?
Duplicate the template and rename it for the site and audit date. Open the By section view and begin with Quick triage. For each checklist item, record the affected URLs, priority, impact and status.
What properties does each checklist item have?
Section (the category), Status (Not started, In progress, Done), Priority (P0, P1, P2), Impact (High, Medium, Low), Tool (GSC, Screaming Frog, PageSpeed and others), Evidence URL and Notes, plus an optional Due date.
What should I use as evidence for a checklist item?
A Screaming Frog export link (CSV or Google Drive), a Google Search Console screenshot URL (Indexing, Sitemaps, Performance), a PageSpeed report link or screenshots, or a server log sample or analytics screenshot if you used one.
When should I mark a technical SEO item as Done?
Only after you have verified the fix with a re-crawl and/or Google Search Console validation. If it is partly fixed, keep the status as In progress and write the remaining steps in Notes. Update the Evidence URL whenever the status changes.
How do I decide what to fix first?
Use Priority (P0, P1, P2) together with Impact (High, Medium, Low). Not everything needs to be P0. Set both for every issue you plan to address.
Which view should I use?
Use By section to audit in order, By status to manage work like a kanban board during implementation, and Table when you want to see everything at once.
What is the recommended audit workflow?
Audit pass, then triage, then execution, then validation, then wrap-up. Work through the sections and mark issues, set priority and impact, move items across the status board with due dates, re-crawl or re-test, and finally write the outcome and remaining risks in Notes.
Can I delete the Database toggle at the bottom of the page?
No. It is labeled Database (Do not Delete) because the checklist view on the page pulls from it.
